Emails you the moment a fully-booked consultant's calendar opens a slot.
A booking platform doesn't offer availability alerts, so this polls its public slots API on a schedule and emails the moment an opening appears, with dedup logic that guarantees exactly one email per new slot no matter how the checks land.
Why it exists
Popular slots on the target booking platform get snapped up within minutes of opening, and the only way to catch one was refreshing the page by hand. This watches instead, and only interrupts you when something actually changed.
What it does
- Slot-level dedup: the same open slot only ever triggers one email, proven by 36 tests including simulations of flapping availability and repeated checks over days.
- State is written before the email is sent and rolled back if the send fails, so a crash mid-check can never produce a duplicate alert or a silently lost one.
- Survived two real production incidents: an unthrottled check sent hundreds of emails in a day against a 100/day free quota, and the fix for that then burned through Vercel's Blob operations quota and got the store suspended. Both are now regression tests, not just memories.
- A hard per-target cooldown caps email volume even if the upstream API starts returning garbage, so a bad response can degrade the alerts, but it can never spam.
